The one thing that comes to mind when thinking about Heartstory is just how genuine they are about loving what they do, and how easy it seems to come to them. We had Jeremy as the photographer for our wedding but the service started well prior to that. We spent an afternoon together a few months prior giving Jeremy all the goss that comes with any family, who rubs who the wrong way, who were our closest friends, or who did we want him to focus taking photos of. Additionally, he listened in as we excitedly told him some of the story of our upcoming wedding, that my wife’s mum made both of our dresses or that we had matching rings from Jaelle Jewelry themed after Lord of the Rings.
Looking back at the photos taken on the day, it’s easy to tell that Jeremy used all that information to add a personal touch to the hundreds of photos taken. He was simultaneously invisibly snapping away but was also happy to stop for a chat whenever my wife or I managed to catch him. Our friends and family had nothing but lovely things to say about him after the event. He not only delivered many gorgeous photos of my wife and I, but many of my friends use the photos taken on this day. Whether they’re stuck to the fridge our used as new profile pictures online, I think that everyone came away extraordinarily happy.
It’s also important to note that as a queer couple, My wife and I felt immensely safe with Jeremy at all times. There was no awkwardness or strange reverence, only exactly what you’d hope for; having our relationship taken at face value whilst quietly celebrating it’s possibility. I think this too was reflected in our photos, as Jeremy helped us coordinate a classic sword lesbians pic, an american gothic portrait, and (our favourite) a hilarious shot of the bridal party, equipped with whatever agricultural tool we could find in the shed.
Our wedding was the happiest day of our life so far. And everytime we look back on the photos Heartstory gave us, we get to relive that warmth. We honestly don’t think someone else could’ve done better.
