We are big supporters of local Canberra businesses, and if you’ve been following us on social media, you would have seen our Love Local shopping event being posted daily. We now have just a couple of days left to shop the remaining deals, and I thought it was a good opportunity to jump online and help out the last minute gift peeps!
I’ve always been a last minute shopper – it comes with running a business that gets out of control busy from October to December – and that’s probably how I first fell into buying from local businesses. It was too late to shop online and I couldn’t bear the thought of battling it out in the shopping centre carparks, so I went to a local boutique.
So here are my top three stores for awesome Christmas Shopping in Canberra:
- Bison Home. They are an incredible maker/supplier of stunning ceramics and glassware. They are the perfect gift item because they’re just that little bit too expensive for every day crockery that you’d buy for yourself, but the perfect occasional pieces or display favourite. One year I bought ALL my Christmas gifts from Bison Home (not for the kids, obviously!). There are stunning vases, platters, bowls and cups. The colour palettes are to die for. You just can’t go wrong. They have two stores, in Pialligo and Braddon. And we have a special offer including a Bison gift voucher available in our online store until midnight Tuesday 18th December.
- Meet Gather Collect. This is a beautiful gift store full of amazing things made by Australian artists and craftspeople. They have jewellery, clothing, kidswares, homewares, artwork, furniture, shoes, accessories, cards and wrap and so much more. You can’t put a foot wrong here because you can get gifts for $20 and gifts for $200+. - Tip You’re It. This is the scrummiest kids store to ever exist. They sell the most gorgeous and fun clothes (and in limited quantities too, so you’re not likely to run into another kid with the same outfit!) and they have all the sought after furniture and accessories for nurseries and playrooms. They have lots of great gift ideas too, and you can spend as little or as much as you like.
