This brand new pop-up project is for little ones aged 1-8 who love fairies, wizards & imaginary worlds where magic exists!

What is Wizards & Fairies?

This Heartstory POP-UP project will run for a limited time, giving families the once in a lifetime opportunity for stunning portraits of their little ones in a custom built magical wonderful set, complete with gorgeous fairy & wizard costumes and props!

Your little ones are going to love this experience and therefore your photos will easily capture their sweet and cheeky smiles and authentic personality.

The inspo for this pop-up is the current trend for magic related book and film culture for kids – Harry Potter, How to Train your Dragon, Moana, Snow White, Encanto etc.

Highly recommend Heartstory! As someone who get anxious having photos taken, the thought of having professional ones done made me nervous. Jeremy put me at ease from the start. He has such a friendly, easy going nature, well balanced with appropriate guidance to capture the most amazing family photos. Everyone who has seen them, loves them, just like we do. The process of choosing and editing was done respectfully and ever so patiently, and I really appreciate that. Jeremy captured the essence of us as a family and our individual personalities. He is magic with kids too, our son thought he was awesome. Jeremy allowed our son to be himself which showed in the photos.

How does it work?

Who can participate

Wizards and Fairies is designed for children aged 1 to 8 years old. However, if you have a child outside this age bracket, we will not exclude them! But we need to know in advance to ensure the correct costumes and props are available!

Where

Sessions will take place at Heartstory HQ in Belconnen, Canberra.

What's included

A studio photography session available to book on weekdays and weekends at various times from now until the end of 2025. The session can also include family photos in our family ‘set’ which is neutral and nature inspired at no additional cost (value $200)
Access to our stunning Wizards & Fairies wardrobe of costumes and props so you don’t have to bring the costumes!

What's not included

The photos taken on the session are not included. At your purchasing appointment you will see a the whole collection of photos from your session with us and you can purchase prints, artwork, albums and digital files. This pop-up includes three digital packages starting at $700 (which are exclusively priced with up to 30% off for this pop-up ONLY) with a range of upgrades to choose from. What to expect

Your photographers are Katie Kolenberg and Jeremy Byrnes, two of the most experienced and awarded photographers in the Canberra region.

Katie and Jeremy are parents to two boys. Katie has been shooting professionally for 17 years and Jeremy for 30. Both are little kid magnets and frequently get asked by little people if they can come over for a playdate after their photography session!

Wizards & Fairies is our first ever pop-up shoot experience and our aim is to make sure your kids have the time of their life and fully embrace the fun of imagination and dress-ups. Your photos will be sweet, spirited, adorable and rich in colour and detail.

We are offering the opportunity to add on family photos if you wish, because that’s totally our jam and a Heartstory session might feel a teeny bit incomplete without that, but if you’ve recently had photos done, this is totally optional. The family photos will take place on the other side of the studio in our neutral, textured, comfy family set.

I’ve had portraits done several times in the past by different photographers and whilst ok, there was just no soul to them, and with each attempt and disappointment, I just didn’t bother anymore. But after trying my luck one last time, my faith has been restored! Katie was able to capture exactly what I was after from a family portrait.
