What to expect
From me:
- Time, patience and care, especially with your little ones.
- A beautiful and unique collection of images with your own flavour – no formulaic approach or typical setups.
- Help and advice deciding what to do with your collection, should you need it.
- High end, quality products with a special touch.
Before your session:
- At busy times (spring and autumn), I am typically booked up to one month in advance.
- Sessions are available Tuesday – Saturday, and usually start early morning or late afternoon to take advantage of the most beautiful and flattering light.
- To confirm your booking, the session fee must be paid in full, and my preferred payment method is bank deposit.
- I will send you a questionnaire for you to fill out, a portrait agreement and a model release form.
- We will talk about your session, and make decisions together about location and the kind of session you want.
At your session:
- Don’t expect me to ‘pose’ you, tell you to smile at the camera, or make sure that there’s no dirt on little ones’ faces. I’m not interested in making you look ‘magazine perfect’. To me, the perfect portrait is one where you look comfortable and natural; like you normally do when you’re hanging out together. To me, everyone looks their most beautiful when they’re happy and relaxed in the presence of people who love them.
- There will be no backdrops, props or artificial lighting.
- If we’re having the session at your home I may ask to move furniture, open blinds, curtains or doors, or move to another room, to make sure we’re working with the best possible light.
- I may take the kids to another room, or a spot out of sight of mum and dad. I find it helps kids relax and results in better portraits!
- I will probably make suggestions on where you should sit and/or stand or things you could do, but sometimes I will be quiet for a while, and wait to see what happens.
- There is a good chance I will act completely silly (and sometimes very noisy!) at times in order to engage you with the camera or make you laugh. And this doesn’t just apply to babies and little kids!
- I will chat with you before, during and after your session, so I can find out more about you and your life, because it helps me tell your story.
- I will interact with you at times while I’m shooting, to help you relax and show more of yourself.
- I may get a little bit excited at times, especially if the light is really magical, or your baby’s smile is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. Sometimes I get a little misty-eyed too!
- All I expect from you is that you be yourself. Come as you are, have some fun, and go with the flow.
After your session:
- Your password-protected online gallery will be ready approximately two weeks after your session, and it will be available to you (and anyone you wish to share it with) for seven days.
- I am available to discuss your potential order with you, to help plan a photo wall, storybook or any other personalised product, and to make sure you get the most out of your collection, no matter what your budget is.
- I take orders over the phone or via email. Payment must be made in full before the order will be filled.
- You can expect your order to be ready 2-4 weeks after payment, however some custom products may take longer. I will keep you informed of progress.
- Your order can be collected from me at my home office, at a time convenient for you.
